What’s your biggest challenge when it comes to creating marketing content? If you’re like most small business owners, it’s finding the TIME to create it! We’re expected to write newsletters, keep our websites fresh with blogs and articles, show up consistently on social media, run ad campaigns, send out emails, generate leads, etc. How can one person (or a small team) possibly have time to create ALL that content and still run a successful business?
Well, the best way I’ve found is to REPURPOSE CONTENT! That’s right. Focus on creating ONE piece of useful content and then use it to create as many different pieces of content as possible! Break it up, break it down, turn it into a graphic, and deliver it in different formats.
Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that your audience is going to get tired of seeing/hearing about a topic. The truth is that marketing is ALL ABOUT REPETITION! Different mediums reach different audiences at different times and in different ways. In fact, research shows that it takes a person 7 times of seeing and/or hearing something to actually remember it.
Also, my background as a high school English Teacher reinforced my understanding that everyone consumes information and learns in different ways, so providing it in multiple formats and mediums truly expands the reach and accessibility of your marketing messages.
For me, I’m first and foremost a writer and that’s how I best communicate my thoughts and ideas. But you may be better on video or speaking your thoughts on a podcast or a voice note.
This process works best if your primary piece of content is high-quality, educational, and offers value to your audience. And be sure to work in the format that is most natural for you.
Then figure out the other marketing outlets you can use to reach your audience and brainstorm ways to repurpose that primary piece of content. Here’s an example of 5 ways to REUSE a single piece of written marketing content:
But what if you start with video? Here are 5 ways to reuse and repurpose your video into other marketing formats:
By focusing on creating one piece of high-quality content and then repurposing it into different formats, you can save time, maximize your content creation efforts, and reach a wider audience.
