Over the past month, we’ve been talking all about how to get more PR for your small business, but now it’s time to take the conversation a little deeper. The truth is, to get these PR opportunities, you usually need a good story – or a reason for people to be interested in you and your business, and your news.
A compelling brand story is crucial for catching the eye of the media, podcasters, and influencers, and potential customers and clients alike. People need to connect with your journey and the essence of your mission to truly care about what you have to offer.
What’s the use of doing all the legwork to make your own PR opportunities if you don’t know what story to tell when you get there? Your brand story is SO important to your marketing as a small business owner, so you need to make sure you have it figured out!
That’s why I created a workbook called Finding Your Story: A Small Business Owner’s Guide. It’s a unique tool to help you refine and articulate your brand story. You can download it below for free! It has a bunch of questions about you and your business, with the space to write down the answers.
Answer the questions thoughtfully, not as quickly as you can. The goal isn’t to have the perfect answer, it’s to draw out the unique story that defines you and your business.
Even if you’ve got your story down but haven’t revisited it recently, I still recommend going through the workbook. It’s good to go back every couple of years to refresh and make sure your story is as up-to-date and powerful as it can be.
With over 15 years of experience, I've worked with countless small businesses just like yours. I can provide you with the tools and resources that will help make marketing less overwhelming.
